Man shot, killed in Broad Ripple identified – Local News

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A man was shot and killed at a pub in Broad Ripple early Thursday morning. The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified him at 36-year-old Alfred Hayes, Jr.

Metro Police are investigating the shooting that happened just before 3:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of Ferguson Street.

Investigators are working to determine if Hayes was shot inside or outside of Connor’s Pub. They are interviewing a number of potential witnesses.

“I do know this is a popular after-hours place, if you will, for our Broad Ripple area,” said Metro Police spokesman Michael Hewitt. “So chances are there were many people that were gathered here in the area.”

Police have not confirmed the identity of the victim or any suspects at this point.

“This just shows where we are right now as a society, not necessarily as a city,” Hewitt said. “Gun violence, unfortunately, is happening everywhere, so this is another example of that.”

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the IMPD Homicide Office at (317) 327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262.8477 or (TIPS).
