Alongside a flurry of changes to Epic Games’ flagship battle royale, Fortnite Patch v10.40, released yesterday, also includes a welcome surprise for those in need of precious XP to a catch up before Season 11 starts in earnest in a couple of weeks.
Epic Games is running a Double XP Weekend from 9:00 am ET this morning until Monday, Sept. 30 at 9:00 am ET. That’s exactly 72 hours to grind away and cash in on XP.
So how do you go about taking advantage of that double XP Fortnite goodness? Here are four ways to make the most of the weekend.
1. Play Loads of Fortnite
At the risk of stating the glaringly obvious, the best way to grind XP is to knuckle down and play as much as you can. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking classic matches or the new Zone Wars LTM, get in there and reap the rewards of double XP for each and every match.
As always, the better you perform, the more XP you’ll be awarded. Survival time, placement, kills, victory – you name it, there’s some form of XP available. Ideally, you’ll want to either win matches or at least place in the top ten.
Elimination XP is great, but it’s capped at six kills so don’t lean too heavily on straight-up eliminations if you’re on a hot streak and going in with the intent of farming XP. Always aim for a higher placement, even if it means playing more defensively.
2. Complete Weekly Battle Pass Challenges
We are at the tail end of Fortnite Season 10, which means there are nine weeks’ worth of Weekly Challenges to get through – nine weeks’ worth of easy XP that gets 100% more attractive this weekend.
Get on it, complete all the remaining challenges, and while you are it, make sure to mop up the Batman-themed limited-time crossover challenges for an extra XP boost.
As a bonus, completing Weekly Challenges also grants Battle Stars and awesome cosmetic loot.
3. Raise Your Fortnite Battle Pass Tier
Other than Match XP and Weekly Challenges, the best way to up those XP hauls and maximize the Double XP Weekend is to try and progress your Battle Pass tier. Each tier provides an XP multiplier, so the higher you go, the higher the multiplier, which translates into even more XP overall.
If you are just shy of the next tier, we recommend grinding it out just for the sake of the multiplier bonus it grants.
If for some odd reason you are still on a low Battle Pass tier this late in the season, it takes very little to jump up to the next with the double XP bonus in hand, especially at lower levels.
4. Jump in With a Friend
Playing alongside a trusted friend brings two distinct benefits.
Firstly, you are more likely to play better with someone than alone or with randoms. Communication and cooperation generally result in better overall performance, so higher placings, longer survival times, and hopefully, one or two Victory Royales. It’s also handy to have a ready-made scapegoat for when things go wrong.
Secondly, you get an XP bonus for playing with friends, and the way Fortnite currently works means that you are better off teaming up in duos rather than as a squad.
What happens when you combine the above? A torrent of XP.
